Another podium for Roan van de Moosdijk in Belgium

Roan van de Moosdijk of the F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team raced to third place in the second moto of the fourteenth round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Lommel in Belgium.

The F&H Kawasaki lone-wolf had maintained his incomparable 100% top-three record in Qualifying in the morning and immediately joined the two title candidates in a three-rider breakaway which took them seven seconds clear of the pack already by the end of the first full lap of the opening moto. After four laps their advantage had been extended to fifteen seconds until the Dutch rider had an issue with the bike and had to withdraw. The twenty-year-old bounced back maturely in race two to immaculately snatch the lead at turn two, leading for seven of sixteen laps until a single error as he bogged in deep sand on landing off the largest jump on the track. Second place still seemed secure until the final lap when he was surprised by an unexpectedly energetic challenge by his immediate rival in the points which left him third in moto and seventh in the championship standings heading to the final four rounds of the series.

Roan van de Moosdijk: “It was another day with some ups-and-downs but I guess this is all part of the learning process. The day started well with another top three in Qualifying, then I quickly passed to third in the first race and felt confident running the pace to follow the leaders until we had an issue with the bike. I was really motivated for the second moto and I could hold a tight line through the first turn to slip into the lead at turn two. I was in the lead for nearly twenty minutes; this is the first time I have led in MX2 and I am happy how I dealt with the pressure as Geerts was chasing me. In the end I got a little arm-pump again and had to settle for third but I am happy to have finally led some laps; it’s good experience for the future.”

The next opportunity for the youngster to show his skills and display the speed of the KX250 Kawasaki is the third race in eight days at Lommel on Sunday.
