KX450-SR

The Kawasaki KX450–SR is the pinnacle of Kawasaki’s four-stroke motocross GP technology, with class- and race-leading power delivery controlled by state-of-the-art suspension, lightweight high-tech chassis and factory innovations.

The KX450–SR, the result of ongoing development by technicians from the Japanese factory’s Akashi race department and the KRT base in Europe, will be campaigned in the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship by France’s Romain Febvre and Australia’s Mitch Evans under the KRT banner for 2023. The result of months of secret testing and innovation, the SR designation shows that this is a true factory special representing a natural cohesion of production line components and unobtainable exotic items such as Factory Showa or KYB suspension. Such is the integrity of the KX package, the mount of production-based parts is reassuring for non-factory riders whilst exotic parts take the package to a level whereby World Championship podiums are a realistic expectation.

Therefore, 'SR' also reflects many of the same outstanding features found on the standard KX450 machine available from any Kawasaki off-road dealer with the leanest, most ergonomically-precise chassis ever on a KX450, a perfected E-starter with automated centrifugal decompression system and the exclusive finger-follower valve actuation, a valve train designed by Kawasaki’s MotoGP & World Superbike engineers which enables larger-diameter valves and more aggressive cams to derive the optimum from a new engine which boasts an increase in peak power of approximately 2.5 kW (3.4 PS) whilst maintaining Kawasaki's renowned low-rpm performance through a flatter torque curve to make it even easier to get on the gas at all times. Additionally, it sees a reduction in valve train weight which is welcome in the GP paddock where every gramme counts.

With premium retail models dubbed “SR” – complete with selected high end component additions – available in the booming American market, the model designation SR is reserved for the most exclusive track and retail products in the KX family.

KX250

The KX250 four-stroke was launched in 2004 and has been continually developed ever since. A winning machine in MX2 and Supercross at international level and equally successful in national and club racing, the KX250 is a formidable racing machine.

At the final step in the MX competition ladder before the pinnacle of MXGP, the KX250 displays agility, power and predictability plus season-long durability and easy maintenance and is “first choice” for many individual riders and racing teams across the world.

Continual development to maintain the most impressive race-long performance on the market with enviable durability has always been the aim of Kawasaki engineers and the current KX250 features finger-follower valve actuation adapted from the Kawasaki World Superbike program enabling a higher rev limit and more aggressive cam timing (plus lower weight for the valve train assembly) complemented by a lightweight slimline aluminium perimeter frame creating a performance advantage that translates into quicker lap times, resulting in the fastest most-competitive KX250 ever.

Proof of the outstanding competitiveness of the Kawasaki KX250 has been displayed in the FIM WMX Women’s World Motocross Championship in which New Zealand’s Courtney Duncan has raced the producrion model to three consecutive world titles. For 2023 then, the KX250 is in demand as weapon of choice for countless riders and teams globally.
